About Us

Nalinee Rughoo matriculated from Verulam Secondary School in 1991. She grew up in a farming town, Verulam, on the North Coast of KwaZulu Natal, where her love for reading grew. Nalinee’s father, who was an influential figure in her life, always encouraged her to follow her dreams and never give up. This strong bond between father and daughter fed her curiosity and interest in knowledge, driving her to pursue a career in psychology.

In 1994, Nalinee Rughoo attained her diploma in Analytical Chemistry from Intec College, and in 1995, she received her Diploma in Psychology from Home Study College. She completed her BSc Degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia and obtained her Honours in Psychology from the University of South Africa. Additionally, she pursued several short courses in HIV/AIDS and a hospital course in Pastoral Counselling and Etiquette. In 2003, she registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a trauma counsellor and, in 2013, as an independent Clinical Psychologist.

Nalinee Rughoo holds a Traumatic Incident Reduction certificate from Steve Biko Academic Hospital and a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Africa. After her training in clinical psychology at the University of South Africa, she undertook an internship at 1 Military Hospital, where she gained experience in neurology and psychiatry wards. While working at Steve Biko Academic Hospital as part of her community service, she fearlessly tackled various family and psychopathology challenges.

Nalinee Rughoo's extensive experience and education have shaped her into a highly skilled clinical psychologist with a profound understanding of human behaviour and mental health. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development is evident in her diverse qualifications and hands-on experience in various medical settings. Nalinee’s approach to psychology is deeply rooted in empathy and a holistic understanding of her clients' needs, making her a compassionate and effective practitioner. Her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others drives her to stay at the forefront of her field, ensuring that her clients receive the best possible care.
