ZAHEERA GANGAT-ELABOR - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
I am a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist whose primary passions are in advocating for and treating mental health. I am a big dreamer and have a vision to create an inclusive system that nurtures the holistic development of individuals' mental well-being. I strive to make a lasting impact with all my patients and their support systems.
Having earned my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Cape Town, I am blessed to have a wealth of knowledge and expertise that create an excellent and fruitful platform for therapy. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and psychodrama which allows me to apply effective therapy methods to achieve sustainable outcomes. My clients leave feeling better and more wholesome, with the necessary life skills needed to maintain a healthier well-being. I am committed to empowering others and fostering change, and this sets me apart as a leader in my field.
There was a time where my passion seemed too much for the environment I worked in, I felt too loud, too different and very unheard, so I created my own practice. I truly have been blessed to have found my passion and purpose. The process of starting my own practice has left me feeling enriched because it allows me to engage with my patients on a level that empowers them to be vulnerable enough for true therapy to occur. I find myself "geeking" out on journals, articles, podcasts, and any other content that helps me to better understand the human condition, and my patients are better for it. I love supervising my students, watching them grasp a concept and then being able to implement that concept in therapy brings me so much joy. To know that I have have a hand in shaping tomorrow OT's for the better truly is a dream come true.
Join me on my journey as I continue to shape the landscape of mental health through compassionate care and innovative solutions. Together, let's build a brighter future for all.
