• Hypertension: Hypertension is also known as high blood pressure, occurs when your blood forcefully exerts against the walls of your blood vessels. This pressure depends on how resistant the blood vessels are and how hard your heart has to work. Hypertension may lead to severe health complications and may increase your risk of heart disease or stroke.

• Heart Disease: This refers to a range of conditions that affect the heart such as coronary artery disease, heart rhythm problems also called arrhythmias, and heart defects you may be born with. Heart disease may cause symptoms such as numbness, weakness in your arms and legs, pain or pressure in the chest, shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, irregular heart rhythm and pain in your arms, left shoulder, elbows, jaw or back.

• Diabetes Mellitus: Diabetes is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar levels. The hormone insulin moves sugar from the blood to your cells to be stored and used for energy. Diabetes occurs when your body is unable to produce enough insulin or can’t effectively use the insulin it produces. Diabetes symptoms include increased hunger and thirst, weight loss, frequent urination, blurry vision, extreme fatigue, and sores that don’t heal. It may also cause poor muscle strength, urinary tract infections, yeast infections, and dry, itchy skin.

• HIV/AIDS: Human immunodeficiency virus is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system, by destroying the T cells, also called the CD4 cells. These cells are responsible for assisting the body in fighting infections and diseases. HIV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI), which may be transmitted by contact with infected blood, semen (during unprotected sex), or from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding.
