About Us
Dr Jaytesh Pillay is an Orthopaedic surgeon who has a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery, obtained at the University of Pretoria. He also did an IGASS Spine Fellowship in Chennai, India. In 2020 he became the first surgeon in Africa to complete the AO Spine Global Diploma Exam from the prestigious AO Spine Foundation. Dr Pillay is also a proctor, involved in training young spinal surgeons in South Africa.
Dr Pillay is a member of the world-renowned AO Spine International group and is currently the AO Spine South Africa Orthopaedics Representative. In 2018 he trained in Spine Endoscopy by the RIWO Spine group in Germany, using a single camera hole to perform surgeries on the spine. Dr Pillay was nominated in 2023 for the Top Forty Under 40 South Africa awards.
At the Spine@kloof we welcome all patients with spine/back and neck issues and Dr Pillay has a special interest in children with Scoliosis and in helping patients who have undergone unsuccessful spine surgeries to be pain free.
