Dr Andile Xana is a qualified cardiologist who practices at Life Eugene Marais Hospital and Mediclinic Heart Hospital. Dr Xana uses advanced cardiac imaging technology to diagnose heart valve conditions and cardiovascular disease.
The management of heart attacks forms a significant part of Dr Xana’s work as he resolves heart failure through the use of medication or coronary angiography and angioplasty. The control of fast and slow heart rates, commonly referred to as heart arrhythmia, is an additional sphere of Dr Xana’s specialities. Preventative cardiology is an essential part of Dr Xana’s medical practice. With the incorporation of preventative measures that include medication and lifestyle changes, the doctor manages hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia and diabetes mellitus.
Dr Xana attained his medical degree from The Eastern Cape, and not long after that, he achieved his Fellowship of the Physicians of South Africa (FCP SA). With a qualification in HIV care and management, the doctor has accumulated years of experience in clinical research and practical experience in the care of HIV patients. After Dr Xana worked as a specialist physician in Gauteng and Queenstown, in the Eastern Cape, his need to further his studies became a priority. Shortly after Dr Xana decided to pursue his studies and joined the cardiology department at the University of Free State, where he attained his cardiology certification from The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (Cert Cardiology SA).
During the doctor’s training in cardiology, he attended the Society of Coronary Angiography Fellow’s programme (SCAI Fellows) based in Las Vegas. Dr Xana also had the opportunity to present in conferences of the South African Heart Association (SAHA). One of the doctor’s most significant achievements included a presentation of a particular family where three generations met the criteria for Holt-Oram syndrome.
Dr Andile Xana is a Cardiologist who treats heart conditions through the use of medication, cardiac pacing, catheterization and angioplasties. Dr Xana also focuses on the management of cardiac arrhythmia, hypertension and heart failure.
