Dr Preetha Thomas

About Us:

Dr. Preetha Thomas grew up in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. She graduated from medical school from the University of Stellenbosch in 2008. Following internship and community service she started her training in Internal medicine under the University of Witwatersrand. She qualified as a specialist physician through the college of medicine of South africa thereafter. She was introduced to the field of Gastroenterology while completing her internal medicine training and found it to be a fascinating field incorporating procedural skills with her medical knowledge. She found this to be unique, and therefore started her sub speciality training at the University of Pretoria. Within gastroenterology her passion lies with hepatology (study of diseases of the liver), assessment and management of inflammatory bowel diseases and endobariatrics to name a few. Additional training was afforded through an opportunity to work at the Donald Gordan liver transplant centre in Johannesburg while subspecialising. Dr. Thomas is currently pursuing various academic interests both nationally and internationally. She is currently in full time private practice at Mediclinic Kloof hospital in Pretoria.
