Medico-legal Assessments
Nicole has a special interest in the following areas of Medico-Legal assessment: Clinical and Neuropsychological assessment of people involved in road accidents, personal injury claims, medical malpractice claims as well as civil claims.
Medico-legal assessments are required when medical or psychological knowledge is sought to answer legal questions. Clinical Psychologists undertake medico-legal assessments of clients on request of an attorney or third party. The goal is to measure the psychological impact an accident or trauma (e.g. work accident, motor vehicle accident or victim of crime) has had on a person’s psychological state and the associated effect of this on the person’s daily functioning, relationships and ability to work.
Medico-legal assessment is a complex process that involves the extensive review of records, focused clinical interviews and standardized psychological testing.
